“Unbound was written at a time when it seemed like a
thousand different voices erupted around the world, all
arguing with each other, all the time. The song turns the
Greek myth of Prometheus on its head, sharing the
perspective of a man desperate to obtain freedom and
enlightenment by imprisoning himself: voluntarily chaining
himself to the rock and embracing death, to escape the
unbearable cacophony of humanity around him.”
lyrics
I burn my fingers upon the flame
Deliver liberation
A panacea met with shame
Castrated creation
Drink it, drink it down,
Burn this to the ground
I’m unbound from the world around
Brick by brick I block the sickness out
I’m unbound from the righteous sound
Chain me up and tear my insides out
Build this prison, break the key
The savage is cremated
Congregate around the golden idol
Insanity satiated
Drink it, drink it down,
Burn this to the ground
I’m unbound from the world around
Brick by brick I block the sickness out
I’m unbound from the righteous sound
Chain me up and tear my insides out
Liberty, the death of me,
Only cages set me free
I’m unbound from the world around
Brick by brick I block the sickness out
I’m unbound from the righteous sound
Chain me up and tear my insides out
Unbound
